The Residential building, which combines multiple types of accommodations, is aimed at people living alone, uniting them into one community, fighting loneliness, and providing a feeling of safety behind the walls of a fortress. The fortress is situated in Eilandje, a rapidly developing neighborhood of Antwerp, in a former harbor area.
Approach: Four people living alone were interviewed. The participants shared their lifestyles and engaged in creating a vision of a comfortable environment. It helped to reveal the current disadvantages of similar living arrangements and propose new solutions with the design.
