My early project proposing a way of art perception through the design. The small art gallery is located in Eindhoven, “The City of Light”. Consisting of three parts, the building provides three experiences, forming a linear path. The first stage is the gallery itself. It is the tallest volume, with walls of frosted glass, which transmits filtered light into the building. It is the place to perceive, feel, and learn. The next stage is a transparent corridor, reconnecting a visitor with the outer world. One`s feelings about nature and the city will be altered by the perceived visions of the artists. This is a place to gather your thoughts about the exhibition. The corridor flows into a round and transparent cafe, where visitors may have a drink and discuss their impressions of the exposition. All three spaces are built around a square where performances and public gatherings can take place.
Located in Gelderlandplein in Eindhoven, the museum is surrounded by greenery while still being in the heart of a residential neighborhood. Therefore, it was important not only to make it a gallery but also a public space, resembling a secret garden. The entrance to the public square is marked by radiating concrete walls forming a circle. It is distinctive and intriguing to the public. The second material used is glass.
